Nutrition therapy is ideal for patients whose illness would be positively impacted by a change in diet and is therefore an important complement to medical treatment.
Statutory health insurance providers subsidize this service as part of the rehabilitation process in accordance with the German Social Insurance Code (paragraph 43 of SGB 5):
- Metabolic disorders: diabetes mellitus, increased liver, cholesterol, triglyceride and uric acid levels
- Cardiovascular disease: strokes, heart attack, bypass surgery, high blood pressure
- Diseases of the digestive system: gallstones, pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, cirrhosis of the liver, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis
- Gastro-intestinal disorders: gastritis, reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhea
- Cancer: e.g. stomach, intestinal, breast
- Kidney disease: kidney stones, renal failure, dialysis
- Allergies and intolerances: histamine, lactose and fructose intolerance
- Obesity and eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating
